1 – QUARRY RC (ENG)

This quarry, in operation since around the mid-19th century, utilized its internal gallery to transport marble blocks via the marble railway. Deep within the mountain lies a surreal, almost lunar landscape, where one loses all sense of proportion, and time seems to stand still.

At the heart of this cavernous space, visitors can marvel at an imposing reproduction of Michelangelo’s “Creation of Adam”, spanning an impressive 160 square meters. This masterpiece was created by the international artist Ozmo for MarmoTour and serves as a centerpiece of the gallery.

The so-called “Marble Cathedral” is a vast space with 24,000 cubic meters of volume and towering walls, further enhanced by numerous works from local artists. The quarry remains active, and visitors can witness enormous mechanical beasts at work, adding to the awe-inspiring atmosphere of this unique location.
