DESCRIPTION
Mulazzo is a small town perched on the mountains of Lunigiana, famous for the remarkable story of the inhabitants of its tiny hamlet, Montereggio. Since the mid-19th century, generation after generation of Montereggio’s residents set out with a backpack full of books, determined to bring literature to central and northern Italy. They traveled to cities still lacking bookstores, establishing new ones along the way.
For this reason, Montereggio is the only town in Italy included in the international Book Town network, making it a true “City of Books.”
Among its main attractions are the remains of the Malaspinian castle and aqueduct, the ruins of a Byzantine tower, and several noble mansions.
