DESCRIPTION
The Fountain of Venus, whose actual name is the Fountain of the Bather (Fontana della Bagnante), is a work by Aldo Buttini. It depicts the nymph Phryne, modeled in the likeness of the sculptor’s wife. Created in 1934 for the First Marble Exhibition, the sculpture was left in a workshop for nearly thirty years before being gifted by the artist to the city, which installed it in the heart of the historic center.
