DESCRIPTION
Just above the small village of Torano, an eerie structure rises — a perfect dichotomy between the strength of concrete and the fragility of time: the former cement factory of the town. Built during the Fascist era, it stood near the Luna quarry, where stones were extracted and pulverized to produce cement. However, by the 1960s, the factory had already been abandoned. From then on, both the structure and the quarry became gathering spots for meetings, small assemblies, concerts, protests, and cultural events that often blurred the line of legality.
The former cement factory offers a breathtaking view, as it is nestled between the vast horizon of the sea and the solid presence of the mountains. Walking through its rooms feels like experiencing an open-air exhibition — its walls adorned with murals and its spaces filled with sculptures.
A forgotten place, lost industrial areas, and abandoned sites now turned into an unexpected artistic and cultural landmark.
